Tonight, the UFC is holding a fight night in Las Vegas headlined by Gilbert Burns versus Michael Morales. Burns, a veteran welterweight contender, will try to turn around Morales, a young, surging, undefeated fighter.
Here, we explored some of the most anticipated fights on the card with Combat Edge's stats.
Burns vs Morales
You can click on the title of each fight to get to the fight page and explore the stats yourself.
Starting with the main event, it's a classic striker versus grappler situation, or at least, that's what our stats point to:
Morales has the advantage in both volume landed and strike absorbed, which are both significantly better than the division average.
Burns leads in takedowns and submission attempts, but Morales enjoys an impressive 92% takedown defense in his 5 UFC fights.
Odds are currently about 4 to 1 for Morales to take the win – partly due to his high takedown defense and the fact that if it stays on the feet, he will enjoy an 8" reach advantage.
Momemtum is also on the side of young Morales, who is still undefeated and on a 5-fight win streak in the UFC while Burns lost his last 3. However, he lost his last 3 to the former champion, the current champion, and the number one contender.
Therefore, Burns is a massive step up in competition for Morales, but the money is on him passing the test. Place your bet on Stake.
Stoltzfus vs Ruziboev
At 6,5" in the middleweight division, Ruziboev is a puzzle for most. He already boasts three knockout wins in less than two years in the UFC.
Stolzfus has been a win-one, lose-one fighter in the UFC, but he boasts some impressive wins, like a knockout in the first round against Barriault in his last time out and a submission wins against Soriano.
Ruziboev is the favorite, but our stats actually give the edge to Stoltzfus:
With an average of 2.31 takedowns landed per 15 mins, if he can keep that going in this fight, he might be able to slow down the towering Ruziboev and clinch an underdog win. Place your bet on Stake
Gordon vs Moisés
This is a lightweight fight that snuck up on me. The odds are extremely close between the two, but late money is coming on Gordon:
Both Gordon and Moises have faced high-level lightweights in the UFC, and they both had their ups and downs.
Our stats are in line with the odds, with a slight edge for Gordon:
However, Moises is more dangerous on the ground and if he is on an "on night", he can also be dangerous on the feet.
This should be a close fight, as the odds point to. Place your bet on Stake.
UFC Fight Night Burns vs Morales starts at 4PM ET for the prelims.
