Combat Edge respects reader privacy and keeps the public site as lightweight as possible. This policy explains what information may be collected when you use Combat Edge, how it is used, and how to contact us with questions or requests.
Information We Collect
- Public browsing data: basic technical information such as page requests, device type, browser, approximate location, referrer, and server logs may be processed to keep the site secure and reliable.
- Analytics data: if enabled, Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics help us understand aggregate traffic, popular pages, and site performance.
- Advertising data: if enabled, Google AdSense may use cookies or similar technologies to show, measure, and improve ads.
- Affiliate measurement data: on pages with an eligible affiliate placement, Impact may measure a page impression and attribute an eligible link or referral after you explicitly accept optional technologies.
- Messages you send us: if you email Combat Edge, we receive the contact details and content you choose to provide.
- Account data: if you create a Combat Edge account, we collect your email address, an optional display name, your sign-in method (email/password or Google), and — if you use Google sign-in — the basic profile information Google shares (name and profile picture). Passwords are stored only as a salted hash; we never store them in readable form.
- Account activity data: when you are signed in, we may record successful sign-ins and account actions such as picks, fighter follows and alert settings, comments, public-handle changes, newsletter choices, and upgrade actions. The activity log uses an internal account identifier and timestamp; it does not store your password, IP address, or browser fingerprint.
- Pick'em data: if you make predictions, we store the picks you submit so you can revisit and grade them.
- Admin data: authorized administrative tools may use secure cookies and account credentials for login, security, and operational access.
Accounts, Pick'em, and Your Rights
Accounts are optional and used to save your Pick'em predictions and personalize your experience. You must be at least 14 years old to create an account.
- Export: you can download a machine-readable copy of your account data, including your recorded account activity, at any time from your account page.
- Deletion: you can permanently delete your account and personal data yourself from your account page; this removes your picks and anonymizes your record.
- Marketing email (CASL): we only send Combat Edge news or updates if you separately opt in. Creating an account does not by itself sign you up, and every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Quebec Law 25: for residents of Quebec and other applicable jurisdictions, you have rights of access, rectification, portability, and erasure. Our Privacy Officer can be reached at info@combat-edge.com.
Cookies and Consent
Combat Edge uses essential cookies for security and admin login. Google Analytics and Google AdSense use region-aware consent settings and your consent choice. The optional Impact publisher tag loads only after you explicitly select “Accept,” and only on a page that contains an eligible Impact affiliate placement. Selecting “Decline” prevents that publisher tag from loading. You can also limit optional tracking with your browser privacy controls.
How We Use Information
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the website.
- To provide account features and measure whether members successfully use and return to those features.
- To measure audience interest, performance, and search visibility.
- To display and measure advertising when AdSense is enabled.
- To attribute and measure eligible affiliate placements after explicit consent.
- To respond to corrections, support requests, privacy requests, and business inquiries.
Service Providers
Combat Edge may rely on service providers including Vercel for hosting and analytics, MongoDB Atlas for database infrastructure, Google Analytics for traffic measurement, Google AdSense for advertising, Impact for consented affiliate measurement and attribution, Google for "Sign in with Google" authentication, and an email delivery provider for account verification and password-reset messages. Some of these providers process data outside Quebec, including in the United States. These providers process data according to their own terms and privacy policies.
Public Content and Editorial Records
Fighter profiles, fight records, event information, results, and news articles are public editorial and data records. Requests involving public factual records may be handled differently from requests involving personal account, contact, or administrative data.
Data Retention
We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for site operation, security, analytics, legal obligations, editorial integrity, and business records. Server logs, analytics records, and backups may have different retention periods depending on the provider and operational need.
Your Choices and Requests
You can contact info@combat-edge.com to ask privacy questions, request correction of information, or request deletion of personal data associated with you. We may need to verify your identity before acting on certain requests.
