Jarjis Danho bio
Personal background
Jarjis "Man Mountain" Danho is a Syrian-born German heavyweight who competed in the UFC with a 6-1-1 professional record and a 100 percent finish rate, every one of his wins coming by knockout. Born on October 15, 1983, in Al-Malikiyah, in northeastern Syria, Danho settled in Germany as a child and grew up an imposing physical presence, working from a young age as a cook and bouncer in his family's businesses. With a background in soccer and powerlifting, the 6'3" heavyweight took up combat sports relatively late, beginning to box around age 27 before quickly adding mixed martial arts. Fighting out of Hammers Team, his raw power and intimidating frame made his ring-walk nickname an easy fit.
Path to the UFC
Danho turned professional in 2012 and built his reputation on European and Middle Eastern circuits, fighting for promotions such as Respect FC, Desert Force, and Finland's Cage. He stopped Jermaine van Rooy by strikes in his debut and stacked first-round finishes, but his most telling results came in 2015 against decorated veterans: he beat 24-5 Marcus Vänttinen by punches and knocked out 13-fight winner Stefan Traunmuller in the opening round at Desert Force 17. By that point he was rated among the top heavyweights in German-speaking Europe and the Middle East, a résumé that earned him a UFC contract.
UFC run
Danho's promotional debut came at UFC Fight Night 84 in February 2016, where he dropped a decision to the experienced Daniel Omielańczuk in a step up against established UFC competition. He returned at UFC Fight Night 93 in September 2016, fighting Christian Colombo to a decision draw against an 8-1 opponent. After a lengthy layoff, he authored the signature moment of his UFC tenure at UFC on ABC 2 in April 2021, flattening Yorgan De Castro with a first-round right hook for a clean knockout — the kind of one-punch finish that had defined his entire career.
Fighting style
Danho is a knockout artist in the purest heavyweight sense. All six of his professional wins came by KO or TKO, a 100 percent finish rate driven by genuine one-shot power and a massive, durable frame rather than technical volume. His game is built around landing heavy hands early, as the first-round right-hook knockout of De Castro made plain. The flip side, true to the archetype, is that when his power did not end matters, the picture changed: both of his non-wins — a decision loss to Omielańczuk and a draw with Colombo — went the distance, where conditioning and output across three rounds tested the limits of a late-starting, power-first heavyweight.
Career highlights
- First-round UFC knockout — dropped Yorgan De Castro with a right hook at UFC on ABC 2, the standout win of his Octagon run.
- Perfect finishing rate — all six of his professional victories came by knockout, a 100 percent finish rate that earned him the "Man Mountain" billing.
- Beat decorated veterans on the way up — knocked out experienced names like 24-5 Marcus Vänttinen and 13-win Stefan Traunmuller to rise among Europe and the Middle East's top heavyweights.
