Climbing the heavyweight ranks

As the competition stiffened, Szaflarski kept winning. He picked up a decision over Luid Lima at PCF 21 to close out 2019, then knocked out Damian Olszewski in the first round at Babilon MMA 14 in 2020. He followed with a decision over the highly regarded 7–1 prospect Filip Stawowy at Babilon MMA 19 in February 2021, and capped his streak with a first-round ground-and-pound finish of Kornel Zapadka in 2022, pushing his unbeaten run to double digits and putting him on the radar of major promotions.

The Contender Series test

That form earned Szaflarski a spot on Dana White's Contender Series in August 2023, where he faced highly regarded Brazilian prospect Caio Machado. Machado handed him a decision loss, the second blemish of his career, leaving Szaflarski with a record of 11–2 and a body of work that marked him as a legitimate European heavyweight prospect.
