Building momentum on the regional scene

From 2017 onward, Flores became a reliable winner on the regional circuit. He submitted Jordan Dowdy by rear-naked choke at Shamrock FC 295, then rattled off a series of finishes and decisions, including rear-naked choke wins over Jarrod Thomas and Marco Hutch and a measured decision over the experienced James Bochnovic at Shamrock FC 311. The run earned him a 2020 spot on Dana White's Contender Series against veteran Dustin Jacoby, where Flores came up short on the cards against a sharper striker – another lesson in the gap between regional success and the sport's top tier.

The PFL run and beyond

Flores answered the Jacoby loss with one of the best stretches of his career, decisioning Larry Crowe and veteran Myron Dennis under the Fury FC banner before a 2022 first-round knockout loss to Tuco Tokkos again raised durability concerns. He regrouped impressively, winning a decision over Graham Park at Unified MMA 49 and topping Ryan Parker before earning a 2023 PFL season slot. There he beat Delan Monte and veteran Dan Spohn by decision to reach the playoffs, where Josh Silveira stopped him with knees in the first round. Flores returned to the win column with a 2024 decision over Marcus Gamble at Tuff-N-Uff 137.

Fighting style

Flores is a wrestling-based decision fighter, and the numbers tell the story: nine of his 14 wins have come by decision, with just two knockouts and three submissions for a finish rate around 36 percent. He uses his length and a steady pace to control position, lean on opponents and bank rounds, a style well suited to grinding out close fights against tough regional competition. The recurring vulnerability is clear – four of his five losses have come by knockout or TKO, meaning the elite strikers he has faced have been able to catch him when the fight stays standing. When he can dictate the grappling and the pace, though, Flores is a difficult, durable out.
