Breaking through on the Contender Series

On the 2019 Contender Series, Camur announced himself against the unbeaten Fabio Cherant, who arrived 4-0. Camur ended the night in the second round with a spectacular flying knee that dropped Cherant into a finishing barrage of ground-and-pound, the kind of highlight that seals a roster spot. He made his official Octagon debut in January 2020 at UFC 246, grinding out a decision over the experienced Justin Ledet to push his record to a perfect 6-0.

Adjusting to the elite level

The UFC's deep light heavyweight division then tested Camur's limits. Later in 2020, at UFC 253, he dropped a decision to the powerful William Knight, his first professional loss. He followed with another decision setback against Nicolae Negumereanu in June 2021, and after a long layoff returned in August 2023 to face the seasoned veteran Tanner Boser, again falling on the scorecards.
