CFFC run and the Contender Series test

Beard's momentum hit a first speed bump in November 2021, when he dropped a decision to undefeated Raheam Forest at CFFC 103. He answered emphatically in 2022, scoring a first-round TKO of Tracy Hardy at Peak Fighting 19 before capturing the vacant CFFC middleweight title with a fourth-round triangle choke of previously unbeaten Miles Lee at CFFC 111. That title win earned him a shot on Dana White's Contender Series in September 2022, but it came against one of the sport's most hyped prospects: Beard was submitted by a first-round triangle choke from Bo Nickal, the decorated NCAA wrestling champion who needed barely a minute to get the finish.

After the spotlight

Beard returned to regional action in 2023, dropping a decision to Gregg Ellis at CFFC 119 before rebounding with a decision win over Trey Manley at Attitude MMA Fights 28. His most recent bout, a decision loss to undefeated Zevan Hunt at Rage in the Cage OKC 100 in June 2024, left his professional record at 8-4. Across a 12-fight career he has shown he can both finish prospects and hang with rising talent, even if the elite-level step up against Nickal exposed the gap that still separates him from the UFC.

Beard is an aggressive, finish-oriented middleweight with a 63% career finish rate, splitting his eight wins between two knockouts, three submissions and three decisions. His best work has come on the mat, where his rear-naked choke and triangle finishes show a genuinely dangerous submission game, but he is comfortable swinging for the knockout when the opportunity appears.
