Guilherme Pat bio
Personal background
Guilherme Pat, nicknamed "Kong," is a Brazilian heavyweight competing in the UFC. Born on April 20, 1994, in São José dos Campos, Brazil, he built his combat foundation in striking arts, earning a black belt in Shotokan karate by the age of 18 before adding a blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He fights out of the Lotus Club, and at a towering 6'5" with an 80" reach he is one of the most physically imposing prospects in the division – the size and presence that earned him the "Kong" nickname. His path to the sport's biggest stage was anything but smooth, defined as much by a battle with immigration paperwork as by anything inside the cage.
Path to the UFC
Pat turned professional in 2022 and built his early record on the Brazilian regional scene, particularly the Spartacus MMA promotion. He opened with a first-round knockout of Ronny de Souza, then produced a spectacular first-round head-kick-and-punches finish of João Gabriel Mendes in March 2023. He followed with a second-round TKO of Luis Oliveira and a unanimous-decision win over Leandro Moreira at Fight Music Show 3, showing he could go rounds as well as finish. A third-round TKO of Mauricio Queiroz at LFA 191 in August 2024 moved him to a perfect 5-0 and onto the UFC's radar.
The visa ordeal
Pat's road to the UFC became a story in itself. Offered a slot on Dana White's Contender Series, he signed to fight but had his US visa denied – reportedly for the fourth time – just a week before the event, scuttling his chance to perform on the show. Rather than send him back to the regional circuit, the UFC offered him a straight contract, turning a bureaucratic heartbreak into a direct promotion to the world's top organization.
Inside the octagon
Pat made his UFC debut on December 13, 2025, against the undefeated Allen Frye (6-0), and delivered a poised, three-round unanimous-decision win to move to 6-0 and spoil his opponent's perfect record. The follow-up proved tougher: on April 4, 2026, he dropped a majority decision to Thomas Petersen (10-4) over three rounds, the first loss of his career. It was a narrow setback against a fellow heavyweight prospect, and one that came after Pat had already shown he belonged at this level.
Fighting style
Pat is a karate-based striker who uses his enormous frame to control distance and land from range. Four of his six wins have come by knockout or TKO, a 67% finish rate, with the head-kick finish of Mendes a showcase of the Shotokan footwork and kicking that underpins his game. His jiu-jitsu blue belt gives him a baseline of grappling competence, but striking is clearly his primary weapon. The two decisions on his ledger – the win over Frye and the loss to Petersen – suggest he can be drawn into closer, grind-it-out fights where his finishing power is harder to apply, and tightening those margins will be central to how far the big Brazilian climbs at heavyweight.
Career highlights
- Winning UFC debut — outpointed the undefeated Allen Frye over three rounds in December 2025 to reach 6-0.
- Reached the UFC despite four visa denials — turned repeated immigration setbacks into a direct UFC contract rather than a Contender Series appearance.
- Shotokan karate black belt — built an imposing range-striking game on a karate base, earning his black belt at 18.
