Matt Dixon bio
Personal background
Matt "Magic" Dixon is an American welterweight born on October 9, 1995, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A product of his hometown fight scene, he trains out of WCF Tulsa, the World Class Fighting gym, under coach Craig Blacklock, where he built the heavy-handed, finish-first style that runs through his record. Standing 5'11" at welterweight, Dixon became one of the most active and accomplished fighters on Oklahoma's Xtreme Fight Night circuit, the regional series that has hosted the bulk of his professional career.
Path to the pros
Dixon turned professional in 2017 and made an immediate impression. He opened with a third-round submission of Kelvin Rayford at Onpoint MMA, then ripped off a string of finishes and decisions across the Xtreme Fight Night banner: a first-round knockout of Jared McLoughlin, a fourth-round punching finish of veteran Kemmyelle Haley, and decision wins over experienced hands Chauncey Foxworth and the well-traveled Codale Ford through 2018. Each of those early opponents brought a winning or seasoned record, and the run announced Dixon as a legitimate prospect with real stopping power rather than a fighter padding his ledger against overmatched debutants.
XFN champion
Dixon's breakthrough came in late 2018. He stopped Teagan Dooley and Brian Grinnell with first-round strikes in back-to-back outings, the second of those capturing the Xtreme Fight Night welterweight title at XFN 353 in November 2018. He defended it in April 2019 with a second-round knockout of Braden Smith at XFN 357, extending a perfect start. A decision win over Justin Patterson at LFA 83 in March 2020 carried him to 9-0 and onto the radar of the bigger promotions.
The Contender Series test and the road back
That unbeaten run met its first obstacle on Dana White's Contender Series in August 2020, where Dixon was stopped by ground-and-pound from the crucifix by undefeated prospect Orion Cosce in the third round – the only blemish on his record. Rather than rush back, Dixon took an extended break and returned to familiar ground, scoring a first-round punching finish of William Florentino at XFN 386 in 2023 and a first-round TKO of Ivey Nixon at XFN 393 in April 2024. The two finishes pushed his professional record to 11-1.
Fighting style
Dixon is a knockout artist first. Seven of his 11 wins have come by KO/TKO, with one submission and three decisions for a 73% finish rate, and most of those stoppages have arrived early – several inside the opening round. His power and pressure overwhelm regional opposition, and he has shown he can grind out decisions against durable veterans when the finish does not come. The one cautionary note is his lone defeat: the loss to Cosce came on the mat, where elite ground-and-pound exposed the gap between regional dominance and UFC-level competition.
