Road to UFC run

On the Road to UFC stage, Mar Fan put together the signature wins of his career to date. In May 2025 he outpointed previously unbeaten Yuji Yannick Ephoeviga over three rounds, then in August 2025 he edged Jae Hyun Park by unanimous decision to keep advancing. He completed the tournament with another full-distance unanimous-decision victory over Sang Uk Kim at UFC 325 in January 2026, claiming the Road to UFC lightweight crown and the UFC contract that came with it.

UFC debut

Mar Fan's first official UFC walk came on home soil, and it did not go his way. In May 2026 he met Kody Steele at a UFC Fight Night and was caught in an inverted heel hook, tapping in the first round. It was a sharp lesson against a slick leg-locker, and the first finish loss of his promotional career, but it leaves him with a 9-3 record and plenty of room to rebound.

Fighting style

Mar Fan is a grappling-first lightweight whose record reflects his comfort going long: five of his nine wins have come by decision, with three submissions and one knockout for a 44% finish rate. His BJJ pedigree shows in his chains of rear-naked chokes and guillotines, and his frame – tall with a 75-inch reach – helps him manage distance and grind out rounds. The clear soft spot on his ledger is the mat against elite grapplers: all three of his losses have come by submission, including back-to-back chokes from Salkilld and a heel hook from Steele, a reminder that his defensive grappling against specialists remains a work in progress.
