The AFC winning streak

From 2021 onward, Park reeled off a string of victories that showed off his range. He submitted the experienced Jae Wook Myung by rear-naked choke in the second round at AFC 16, then closed out 2021 with ground-and-pound finishes of Jong Baek Kim at AFC 17 and Jung Hyuk Jang at AFC 18. In 2022 he proved he could win on the cards too, taking decisions over Seung Hyun Park at AFC 19 and the highly regarded Sang Uk Kim at AFC 20, the latter a notable scalp against a 6–1 opponent. The run carried him to a coveted spot on the sport's premier Asian proving ground.

The Road to UFC test and rebound

Park earned his place on Road to UFC in August 2023, but the step up proved difficult. He dropped a decision to unbeaten Japanese prospect Shin Haraguchi, and a subsequent bout with Quillan Salkilld was scrapped before it could be contested. Later in 2023 he absorbed a second-round knockout loss to Abdalla Biayda at AFC 29, leaving him with back-to-back setbacks. He bounced back in June 2024, submitting unbeaten Ji Yoon Gu with a third-round arm-triangle choke at Z-Fight Night to halt the slide and reaffirm his finishing instincts.

Fighting style

Park is a balanced finisher whose seven wins split across two knockouts, three submissions and two decisions for a 71 percent finish rate. He is comfortable hunting chokes off the ground and equally willing to grind out a decision when the finish isn't there, a versatility that has carried him deep into the Korean rankings. The honest counterpoint is durability against top-tier strikers: both of his stoppage losses came by knockout, and his Road to UFC decision defeat showed the gap that still exists between the regional scene and the elite international level. At his age, though, those are correctable lessons rather than ceilings.
