The world stage

That domestic dominance earned Ginting a shot on the international circuit. In May 2023 he stepped into the Road to UFC tournament, the promotion's Asian talent-search platform, where he met the unbeaten Daermisi Zhawupasi and was submitted by rear-naked choke in the first round – the only loss of his career to that point. Rather than retreat, he leveled up his competition again, signing with Europe's Cage Warriors. He answered the setback emphatically at Cage Warriors 165 in December 2023, stopping Shawn Johnson with punches in the second round to announce himself on a global stage and prove the Road to UFC defeat was a learning experience rather than a ceiling.

Fighting style

Ginting is a finisher through and through, with a 100% finish rate across his seven wins – four by knockout or stoppage and three by submission, the rear-naked choke being his calling card. He is comfortable everywhere the fight goes, hunting the back when a scramble opens up and leaning on heavy ground-and-pound and punches when he has an opponent hurt. The one demonstrated vulnerability came on the mat against elite competition, where Zhawupasi caught him with a choke at the highest level he had faced. For a compact bantamweight, though, his blend of finishing instinct and relentless pace makes him a tough out, and his bounce-back win in Cage Warriors showed real composure after his first professional loss.
