Eric Nolan bio
Personal background
Eric Nolan, the middleweight known as “Night Time,” was born on September 13, 1997, in Edison, New Jersey, and remains one of the more unconventional stories in his division. Rather than coming up through wrestling or amateur boxing, Nolan enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at 17 and served four years as an infantryman before turning to mixed martial arts. The discipline carried over: a 5'11" middleweight with a 74" reach, he fights out of New Jersey's Lionheart Mixed Martial Arts and has built a reputation as a heavy-handed, finish-minded competitor with a real grappling base.
Path to the UFC
Nolan turned professional in December 2021, winning his debut by unanimous decision over Shane WhiteEagle under the Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) banner, the regional promotion where he would spend the bulk of his career. His early run was a learning curve, including a 2022 split-decision loss to Ty Miller in just his second fight, but it also revealed his finishing instinct, with a first-round rear-naked-choke submission of Ibrahim Kallie and a second-round knockout of Derrick Ageday before the year was out.
CFFC champion
After absorbing setbacks against Blayne Richards and Alonzo Turner in 2023, Nolan reorganized his game and went on a tear. He strung together wins over R'Mandel Cameron, Aireon Tavarres and Trevor Gudde – the latter two by knockout – through 2024, then avenged his earlier loss to Richards in emphatic fashion, scoring a first-round knockout in May 2025 to capture the CFFC welterweight title. That run, built on one-punch power and a willingness to fight anyone, made him one of the East Coast's most watchable prospects and put him squarely on the UFC's radar.
UFC debut
Nolan got his shot in dramatic fashion, accepting a short-notice UFC debut at middleweight against undefeated prospect Baysangur Susurkaev at UFC 319 in Chicago in August 2025. He came up short, caught in a second-round rear-naked choke, but the gritty effort against a rising contender earned him a roster spot. He next steps in against another unbeaten test, Farman Hasanov, in June 2026, with his record sitting at 8-4.

Fighting style
Nolan is a finisher first, with a 75% finish rate and a striking game built around concussive power – four of his eight wins have come by knockout, often in spectacular one-punch fashion. He pairs that with a credible submission game, holding two rear-naked-choke wins of his own. The honest counterpoint is on the defensive side of grappling: both of his stoppage losses have come by submission, including the UFC debut, suggesting that elite grapplers can drag him into deep water. Against strikers, though, his power makes every exchange dangerous.
Career highlights
- CFFC welterweight champion — capped a winning streak with a first-round knockout of Blayne Richards in May 2025 to claim regional gold.
- Marine to the UFC — reached the sport's top promotion on short notice at UFC 319, four years after debuting as a pro.
- Knockout artist — four of his wins have come by KO, several by one punch, anchoring a 75% finish rate.
