Rise through the welterweight ranks

The fight that announced Micallef as a serious prospect came in November 2023, when he went all five rounds to take a unanimous decision over Joseph Luciano for the Hex welterweight title, proving his championship endurance against an 8-1 opponent. His lone professional defeat followed in March 2024, a fourth-round TKO loss to Aldin Bates – the only blemish on his record – but he rebounded with two first-round submissions to reach the UFC. He made his Octagon debut a success at UFC 312 in February 2025, outpointing Kevin Jousset over three rounds for a unanimous decision.
