Breaking through internationally

Brito took his power overseas at the end of the decade. A 2019 third-round loss to Mateusz Rębecki – a future UFC fighter – at Battlefield FC 2 was a hard lesson against an elite grappler, but Brito rebounded immediately with a first-round win over the 17-fight veteran Gábor Boráros at Oktagon 15. He signed with Europe's fast-rising OKTAGON promotion and announced himself in 2021 with a first-round knockout of the 12-3 Robert Bryczek at OKTAGON 23, the kind of statement finish that made him a fan favorite.

After a 2021 decision loss to Petr Kníže and a 2022 first-round knockout of Andrej Kalašnik, Brito reached the top of the division. At OKTAGON 37 in December 2022, in an event built around the bout, he stopped longtime divisional king David Kozma by punches in the third round to capture the OKTAGON welterweight title – becoming the first man to defeat Kozma in the promotion. He stumbled in a 2023 Contender Series decision loss to Oban Elliott, but answered with a first-round ground-and-pound finish of Dalton Ribeiro later that year, keeping his perfect finish rate intact.

Fighting style

Brito is the definition of a finisher: all 17 of his wins have come by stoppage – 14 by knockout and three by submission – for a flawless 100 percent finish rate. His calling card is one-punch power and a willingness to throw spectacular techniques, including the spinning attacks that have ended his fights, but he is also a capable grappler who can lock up chokes when the opportunity arises. His weaknesses are exposed by high-level wrestlers and pressure grapplers: four of his five losses came by decision and one by knockout, typically when opponents survived his early onslaught and dragged him into longer, grinding fights.
