Contender Series setback and a long climb back

Englund earned a 2021 appearance on Dana White's Contender Series, but ran into a buzzsaw in unbeaten prospect Manuel Torres, who stopped him with first-round punches. Rather than derail him, the loss launched one of the most productive stretches of his career. He rattled off a long winning run across 2022 and 2023 – a first-round knockout of Carlos Eduardo Gomes, a first-round guillotine of Rafael Oliveira, and back-to-back unanimous decisions over Darren Whitney and Nick Compton, the latter on a Fury FC card that carried his own name in the billing.

Statement wins and the PFL

The momentum carried into a first-round TKO of Robert Dunn in 2024 and, most impressively, a first-round knockout of the experienced Carlton Minus at Fury FC 103 in March 2025 – a highlight finish over a 14-5 opponent that announced him as a finisher to watch. That form carried him to the PFL, where in February 2026 he was stopped by unbeaten Amru Magomedov in the first round at PFL Dubai. He is next scheduled to face the vastly experienced Sergio Cossio at PFL Austin in July 2026, a chance to rebound against a seasoned veteran.

Fighting style

Englund is an aggressive, finish-minded lightweight whose record skews heavily toward stoppages: six of his 15 wins have come by knockout and three by submission, against six decisions, for a 60 percent finish rate. His power is his calling card – multiple first-round KOs – but his Renzo Gracie grappling base gives him a real submission threat, evidenced by his armbar and guillotine finishes. Tellingly, all five of his career losses have come by knockout, a pattern that points to a fighter who is willing to engage in firefights and can be caught when the pace and power at the elite level rise to meet his own.
