Early Octagon adversity and answers

Brahimaj's UFC run started with a setback: in November 2020 he lost to the rugged Max Griffin by third-round doctor stoppage. He bounced back emphatically in August 2021, submitting Sasha Palatnikov with a first-round rear-naked choke. The pattern of feast-or-famine continued in early 2022, when veteran Court McGee outworked him over three rounds for a decision loss, before Brahimaj reset weeks later with a first-round rear-naked choke of Micheal Gillmore.

The signature run

After a 2024 decision loss to Themba Gorimbo, Brahimaj produced the most memorable moment of his career. At UFC 309 in November 2024 — a homecoming of sorts in New York — he stepped out of character and knocked out Mickey Gall with a first-round right hook, his lone career win by strikes. He then returned to his bread and butter, submitting Billy Ray Goff with a first-round guillotine in May 2025 and choking out former Bellator standout Austin Vanderford with a second-round guillotine in October 2025 at UFC 320, capping a three-fight winning streak.

Recent setback

That momentum was halted in February 2026, when Punahele Soriano handed Brahimaj a three-round unanimous-decision loss, reinforcing the central tension of his career: dangerous when he can impose his grappling, vulnerable when he can't.
