Ronal Siahaan bio
Personal background
Ronal Siahaan is an Indonesian flyweight mixed martial artist who fights under the nickname "Naga Sakti," or "Mighty Dragon." Born on May 5, 1996, in Pekanbaru in Indonesia's Riau province, he became one of the country's more accomplished homegrown 125-pounders, competing out of the BSA Martial Arts Center and later training at Synergy MMA Academy in Bali. A southpaw who built his reputation on Indonesia's domestic circuit, the 5'7" Siahaan rose to prominence in the One Pride MMA promotion before testing himself against international opposition. His standing in Riau is such that he has been recognized by the provincial sports authority as a local MMA athlete.
Rise through One Pride
Siahaan turned professional in 2020 and reeled off a long unbeaten run in One Pride MMA, Indonesia's leading promotion. He opened with a second-round ground-and-pound stoppage of Armando Tambariki, then knocked out Prasetyo Budi Wibowo in the second round and forced Riyanto to retire after the first. He kept building through 2021 and 2022 with decision wins over Galih Tornado and the experienced Adi Rominto Manurung, before returning to his finishing ways with a first-round knee that ended Winardi and a first-round strikes stoppage of Sutrisno. That stretch ran his record to a perfect 7-0 and marked him as one of the standout flyweights in Indonesian MMA.
Stepping up internationally
Siahaan's perfect record met its first test on the international stage at Road to UFC in May 2023, where unbeaten Japanese prospect Rei Tsuruya submitted him with a second-round kimura – Siahaan's first professional loss, against a fighter who would go on to the UFC. He answered the setback in emphatic fashion at the end of 2023, signing with Cage Warriors and taking a decision over the unbeaten Andrew Johnson-Cabrera at Cage Warriors 165. He returned to the promotion at Cage Warriors 171 in April 2024, where he dropped a decision to the durable Igor Wojtas, leaving his professional record at 8-2.
Fighting style
Siahaan is a pressure-based knockout artist whose offense runs through his striking. Five of his eight wins have come by knockout or stoppage – including finishes by hook, body kick, knee and strikes – for a finish-heavy profile built on a varied, aggressive standup arsenal rather than a single weapon. The remaining three wins came by decision, showing he can also bank rounds when a finish does not come. His weaknesses surfaced once he faced elite international opposition: both of his losses came against unbeaten or seasoned opponents, one by submission and one by decision, suggesting his grappling and championship-rounds game are where his rough edges remain. As a southpaw with genuine finishing power, however, he is a difficult out for anyone at flyweight.
