Inside the Octagon

The step up to the UFC proved unforgiving. Salvador's promotional debut in March 2023 ended in a decision loss to Victor Altamirano, a fight that exposed how his all-action style could be neutralized by volume and movement over three rounds. He followed that with another decision defeat in July 2023, dropping a unanimous nod to CJ Vergara at UFC 291. In May 2024 he ran into the sharp hands of Adrian Yanez, who dropped him with a right hook and finished with ground strikes in the opening round. The Octagon stretch underlined a recurring theme: when Salvador lands clean, fights end fast, but the highest level has repeatedly made him pay for the risks his style invites.

Fighting style

Salvador is a pure finisher in the most literal sense – of his 14 career wins, 13 have come by knockout and one by submission, a 100 percent finish rate that almost never sees the judges' scorecards. He is a heavy-handed, dynamic striker who throws with bad intentions from range, mixing punches with knees and kicks to the body and head. The flip side of that aggression is defensive risk: each of his career losses has come either by stoppage or by decision once an opponent survived the early storm and dragged him into deeper water. He remains one of the more dangerous early-round threats in his weight class, a fighter best avoided in the first two rounds.
