Earning the contract

The defining moment came on Dana White's Contender Series in 2023, when Grigoriou flattened Cameron Smotherman in the first round with a straight right that sent his opponent to the canvas for finishing ground strikes. The knockout earned him a UFC contract and made him a notable representative for Cyprus on the global stage. His promotional debut, however, showed the step up in competition: in March 2024 he dropped a decision to veteran Chad Anheliger at a UFC Fight Night, a competitive but losing effort against a durable, experienced bantamweight. He was subsequently matched with Toshiomi Kazama, another step in his bid to establish himself on the roster.
