Regional rise and the LFA run

The heart of Alacabek's career came under the LFA banner. In June 2017 he submitted Antônio Arroyo by first-round rear-naked choke at LFA 13, a statement win over a then 4-1 opponent. He followed it in March 2018 by stopping the unbeaten Jonathan Noriega with a first-round knee to the body and ground-and-pound at LFA 36, then closed out his regional run that July with another first-round rear-naked choke, finishing Dejon Daniels at LFA 45. Three straight first-round finishes against live opposition earned him the call he had chased from Stockholm to Los Angeles.

Contender Series test

Alacabek's bid to fight his way onto the UFC roster came on Dana White's Contender Series in August 2019 against the unbeaten William Knight. It was the toughest night of his career and the first blemish on his record: Knight, a powerful and explosive athlete in his own right, ground him out and earned a third-round stoppage by ground-and-pound. The loss snapped Alacabek's perfect run, but it came against a fighter who would go on to reach the UFC, and it remains the only defeat on his ledger.

Fighting style

Alacabek is a finisher in the truest sense – all five of his professional wins have ended inside the distance, split between three knockouts and two submissions for a 100% finish rate. His foundation is wrestling and top-position grappling: he is a strong, physical athlete who likes to slam opponents to the mat and do damage from dominant positions, transitioning fluidly between heavy ground-and-pound and rear-naked chokes. The Contender Series loss exposed how he fares when a bigger, more athletic grappler turns the tables, but his blend of size, finishing instinct and elite training environments keeps his ceiling high.
