In August 2017, Alvarez landed a spot on Dana White's Contender Series and delivered, outpointing the unbeaten-minded prospect Martin Day over three rounds to pick up a marquee decision win. He kept his striking sharp with a 2019 second-round knockout of the experienced Jorge Calvo Martin at Titan FC 52. The later stage of his career proved difficult, with a run of losses including a 2021 guillotine-choke defeat to Jesus Aguilar at Combate Global, but the resume still features wins over quality opposition across multiple promotions.
