The Bellator gauntlet

His first real test came in October 2015 at Bellator 144, where his unbeaten run ended against Matt Secor, who caught him in a second-round heel hook. He returned to Bellator in April 2016 at Bellator 153 against unbeaten English star Michael Page, falling to a first-round toe hold – back-to-back leg-lock losses that exposed a vulnerability on the mat. Holloway answered with one of the more memorable wins of his career in January 2017, beating Mike Jackson by decision in a Muay Thai bout at XKO 34, before a punches stoppage of veteran Dave Vitkay on the LFA stage showed his hands were still his sharpest weapon.

Titan FC and beyond

A run through Titan FC defined the back half of his MMA career. In June 2019 he scored a clear decision over grizzled veteran Marc Stevens at Titan FC 55, a win over an opponent with more than 30 pro bouts. Later that year he dropped a decision to surging knockout artist Khaos Williams, who would go on to the UFC, and in December 2020 he was submitted by armbar in the first round by Bruno Assis at Titan FC 66. After a leg-kick TKO loss to unbeaten Mitch Ramirez at XMMA 6 in 2023, Holloway pivoted to bare-knuckle boxing, fighting Will Santiago to a draw at BKFC 48 and then beating Cameron VanCamp by decision at BKFC 52.

Fighting style

Holloway is a striker at his core. Five of his 10 wins have come by knockout or TKO, and his most reliable path to victory is putting hands and elbows on an opponent – his very first finishes came via elbows and punches, and the “Hit Em” reputation is earned. The honest weakness on his record is grappling: four of his six losses are submissions, including two leg locks and an armbar, a pattern that high-level opponents have repeatedly exploited. That stand-up-first identity is also why bare-knuckle boxing became a natural late-career fit, letting him lean on the punching power that has always been his best asset.
