Fight Nights Global champion

Abbasov's defining run came inside Fight Nights Global, the same promotion that later became AMC Fight Nights. He stacked win after win against credible regional competition – a 2018 decision over Adil Boranbayev, a first-round knee-and-punches stoppage of Mikhail Gogitidze, and a 2019 decision over the experienced Kuat Khamitov – to establish himself as the promotion's premier lightweight. He continued the run with a 2020 second-round rear-naked choke of Gogitidze in their rematch, then a 2021 first-round knockout of veteran Shamil Zavurov at Eagle FC 41, putting together one of the most consistent stretches of any fighter in the region.

Stepping onto the world stage

That body of work earned Abbasov a shot at the next level. In September 2022 he appeared on Dana White's Contender Series against fellow prospect Ismael Bonfim, dropping a competitive decision in a bout that showed he could hang with UFC-caliber talent even in defeat. He answered with a 2023 third-round rear-naked choke of Kanybek Zhanybek uulu, before later setbacks against Ali Abdulkhalikov and Fanil Rafikov closed out a stretch of facing top-tier international opposition. Even in those losses, Abbasov never went away easy – tellingly, he has never been knocked out across more than thirty professional fights.

Abbasov is a complete, technically sound lightweight whose record reflects genuine balance: of his 28 wins, 11 have come by knockout, six by submission and 11 by decision, a near-even split that speaks to his ability to win fights anywhere they go. Just as notable is his durability – of his six career losses, five came by decision and only one by submission, with not a single knockout defeat.
