UFC run

Lawrence made an immediate impression in the Octagon. In his February 2021 debut he dominated Vince Cachero, taking the fight to the mat and finishing with ground-and-pound in the third round. He followed that a year later at UFC 271 in February 2022, grinding out a unanimous decision over Mana Martinez to push his promotional run to 2-0. The momentum stalled in July 2022, when he dropped a three-round unanimous decision to surging prospect Saidyokub Kakhramonov, his first UFC loss. His most recent outing, against Dan Argueta in June 2023, ended in a first-round no-contest, leaving his official record at 8-2 and his standing in a competitive bantamweight division still to be reasserted.

Fighting style

Lawrence is a wrestling-based pressure fighter who uses his takedowns and top control to dictate where fights happen and to wear opponents down over 15 minutes. His finish breakdown reflects a two-pronged threat: four of his eight wins have come by knockout or TKO, the other four by decision, with no professional submission wins despite his grappling-heavy approach. On the feet he leans on his wrestling to set up power punching and ground-and-pound, as the Cachero finish showed, while his decision wins over Armfield, Johnson, and Martinez underline a grinding, control-oriented game. The honest limitation is that his UFC losses have both come by decision to opponents who could match or out-wrestle him, and his lack of a finishing submission game means he often needs to win rounds rather than end fights. When his takedowns land, however, few in the division are tougher to deal with on the mat.
