Personal background
Roosevelt Roberts, the UFC welterweight nicknamed "The Predator," was born on February 11, 1994, and fights out of Lathrop, California. His route into combat sports came late and out of necessity: he began training in MMA at 19, around the time his daughter was born, and channeled a difficult upbringing into the discipline of the cage. Standing a rangy 6'1" with a 73-inch reach, Roberts trains at Adrenaline MMA in San Bernardino under head coach Adam Rothwieler and sharpens his grappling at Carlson Gracie Temecula, where he earned a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Path to the UFC

Roberts rebuilt outside the UFC with regional wins before returning, but the losses kept coming against elite competition: an exhibition decision defeat to Austin Hubbard on The Ultimate Fighter 31, a first-round armbar from surging contender Mateusz Rębecki at UFC 295 in 2023, and a unanimous-decision loss to Ľudovít Klein in September 2024.
