Building a UFC résumé

Pichel bounced back with unanimous-decision wins over Garett Whiteley in January 2014 and veteran Anthony Njokuani at UFC 173 a few months later. A serious arm injury then forced a multi-year layoff, but he returned in June 2017 to flatten Damien Brown with first-round punches. In January 2018 he handed previously undefeated Joaquim Silva his first loss by unanimous decision, before running into another unbeaten prospect, Gregor Gillespie, who submitted him via arm-triangle choke in June 2018.

Veteran run at lightweight

Pichel kept turning back tough opposition, decisioning undefeated prospect Roosevelt Roberts in June 2019 and, in one of his signature wins, outpointing lightweight stalwart Jim Miller at UFC 252 in August 2020. He added a unanimous-decision win over Austin Hubbard in August 2021. The back end of his career proved tougher: he dropped decisions to unbeaten Olympian Mark Madsen at UFC 273 in April 2022, to Ismael Bonfim at UFC 301 in May 2024, and to Rafa García in March 2025.

Fighting style

Pichel is a pressure-based striker who leans on heavy, compact power punching, the trademark of a fighter who first learned his craft in a boxing gym. Eight of his 14 wins came by knockout or TKO, and his 57% finish rate reflects a fighter dangerous in close, while his decision wins over experienced names show he can grind out three hard rounds. His wrestling and clinch work, refined later in his career, gave him a sturdier all-around game, though an elite grappler accounted for his lone submission loss. Above all, Pichel built his reputation on durability and a refusal to take an easy fight.
