Contender Series and the marquee bouts

Blackledge's defining stretch came on Dana White's Contender Series in 2020. In September he handed unbeaten prospect Cameron Church his first defeat by unanimous decision, a poised performance against a 4–0 opponent that moved him to 5–0. The promotion brought him back that November for a second Contender Series appearance, this time against the more experienced Tucker Lutz, who was 10–1 entering the bout. Lutz took a unanimous decision, dealing Blackledge the lone loss of his professional career and the only blemish on an otherwise unbeaten 5–1 record.

Stalled momentum

The years that followed were defined as much by what didn't happen as by what did. Blackledge was booked repeatedly against grizzled veteran Drew Fickett – first in 2020 and again in 2021 – only for those bouts to fall through, and additional scheduled fights, including a 2023 matchup with Anthony Figueroa, were also scrapped. The string of cancellations kept a promising career in a holding pattern despite the strong 5–1 foundation he had already laid.

Fighting style

Blackledge is a pressure-oriented finisher with real pop in his hands. Two of his five wins came by knockout or strikes, and the other three by decision, giving him a 40% finish rate that pairs aggressive striking with the cardio to win rounds when the stoppage doesn't come.
