Stepping up in competition

Renfro's climb meant facing increasingly dangerous opposition. In December 2020 he ran into rising Canadian finisher Mike Malott at CFFC 91, dropping a first-round rear-naked choke. He bounced back with knockouts before a 2021 Dana White's Contender Series appearance against Jonny Parsons ended in a decision loss, and a 2022 LFA bout against Adam Fugitt saw him stopped by punches in the opening round. Renfro answered with two wins, including a first-round knockout of the 12–4 Michael Irizarry, to earn his shot at the big stage.

PFL run

In the PFL, Renfro showed he belonged. He scored one of his best wins in June 2023, stopping the experienced 18–5 Jarrah Hussein Al-Silawi with a second-round right cross during the regular season. That earned him a 2023 playoff date with Magomed Magomedkerimov, the decorated 32–6 former PFL champion, who took a decision. Renfro returned for the 2024 season but ran into two more elite names: he dropped a decision to Gadzhi Rabadanov in April, then was submitted by former Bellator champion Brent Primus via third-round rear-naked choke that June. The losses came against a murderer's row of established talent rather than to any drop in form.

Fighting style

Renfro is fundamentally a striker, with four of his 11 wins by knockout and a 45% finish rate, and his most memorable victories – the right cross over Al-Silawi, the pair of first-round CFFC knockouts – have come from his hands. His muay thai and boxing background gives him real power and a willingness to trade, while a lone submission win shows a competent ground game. His record also tells an honest story: of his six losses, three came by decision and three by finish, often against fighters with significantly more experience, underlining that the gap has been quality of opposition more than any technical shortfall.
