Building the resume

Across his long regional run, Mitchell assembled a 14-4 record fueled by violence. His finishing tools were on full display in his series with Tom Aaron, including back-to-back submissions in a 2014 flyweight tournament and a first-round head-kick knockout in 2015. He kept active on the Alaska scene into the 2020s, adding finishes such as an arm-triangle choke and a rear-naked choke in 2023 that kept his name in circulation. That sustained body of work, built on a 100 percent finish rate among his wins, eventually drew the attention of the UFC.

UFC run

Mitchell finally reached the UFC in July 2023, stepping in to face unbeaten prospect Cameron Saaiman at UFC 290. The Alaskan was stopped by ground-and-pound in the first round. He returned that September against teen phenom Raul Rosas Jr. at Noche UFC, again falling in the opening round, this time to punches from mount. The two short-notice tests against elite young talent proved a difficult introduction to the sport's top level for a fighter who had spent his prime years far from the UFC spotlight.

Mitchell is an all-action finisher whose record reflects a do-or-die approach: with eight knockouts and six submissions among his 14 wins, none of his victories have gone to the scorecards. His grappling produced a steady stream of rear-naked and arm-triangle chokes, while his striking carried genuine knockout power, capped by head-kick finishes. The same aggression that made him so dangerous on the regional scene also left him exposed against the UFC's best, where all of his recent losses came by stoppage.
