UFC arrival and the heel-hook streak

Walker's UFC debut in April 2024 did not go to plan: he dropped a unanimous decision to Łukasz Brzeski, the lone blemish on his record. What followed was one of the most unusual runs the heavyweight division has seen. In August 2024 he submitted Junior Tafa with a first-round heel hook at UFC 305, a rare leg-lock finish at heavyweight. He repeated the trick in February 2025, tapping Don'Tale Mayes with another first-round heel hook, then submitted Kennedy Nzechukwu the same way in July 2025.

Building toward contention

Walker extended the heel-hook streak to four straight in October 2025, finishing Louie Sutherland with a first-round heel hook at UFC 321 — every win of his Octagon stretch coming by the same submission. A scheduled bout with Marcin Tybura in March 2026 was cancelled, and he is next booked to face Thomas Petersen in July 2026 as he tries to push into the heavyweight rankings.

Fighting style

Walker is a grappling-first heavyweight built around an elite leg-lock and submission game that is virtually unheard of at his size. Five of his 15 wins have come by submission and six by knockout, a 73% finish rate that speaks to a fighter who is constantly hunting the finish rather than coasting to decisions. His signature weapon is the heel hook, which accounts for his entire UFC win streak, and his length makes him a difficult, awkward problem for opponents on the ground. His one professional loss, a decision, hints that a measured striker can frustrate him over three rounds, but when the fight hits the mat, few heavyweights are as dangerous.
