Pro MMA only. A chronological fighter rating that rewards beating stronger opponents, adjusts for method of victory, and keeps inactive fighters from crowding current contenders.
Combat Edge Elo currently ranks 4280 MMA fighters, including 1445 active fighters. Islam Makhachev leads the active board with a 1922 Elo rating. Rankings can be filtered by men's and women's divisions, active status, fighter name, current Elo, and peak Elo.
Each fight uses the opponent's Elo before that fight. Later career success does not rewrite old results.
02
Method aware
Finishes move ratings more than decisions. Split and majority decisions move ratings less.
03
Activity weighted
Active-ladder order adjusts after 18 inactive months. Fighters leave that ladder after 24 months, but keep their raw current and peak Elo.
04
Pro MMA only
Tagged grappling, wrestling, BJJ, boxing, and other non-MMA bouts are excluded from the calculation.
Methodology
How the rating is calculated
Every fighter starts at 1500. Completed pro MMA fights are processed in chronological order, using the opponent's rating at the time of the fight. Current Elo and peak Elo stay raw. Active-ladder ordering applies a modest inactivity adjustment after 18 months; fighters move off the active ladder after 24 months without a counted pro MMA fight, while remaining available in all-fighter and peak views.
48 for a fighter's first 10 counted fights, 32 until 25 fights, then 24 for veterans.
Method
Round-one finishes move more, later finishes move slightly more, split or majority decisions move less.
Activity
After 18 inactive months, ranking order gradually adjusts. After 24 months, fighters leave the active ladder but keep their true current and peak Elo.
New fighters
Fighters with no completed pro MMA bouts show a provisional 1500 until fight history is entered.
Opponent quality
The average pre-fight Elo of a fighter's latest 10 counted opponents. Ratings are frozen at each bout date, so later results do not rewrite schedule strength.
