Movsar Evloev bio
Personal background
Movsar Evloev is an undefeated featherweight contender in the UFC and one of the most dominant grapplers in the division. Born on February 11, 1994, in Sunzha (Ordzhonikidzevskaya) in the Russian republic of Ingushetia, he comes from the region’s deep wrestling and grappling tradition. Evloev built his base in Greco-Roman wrestling, where he earned the prestigious Master of Sport distinction, and he layered combat sambo on top of it before turning to mixed martial arts. The 5'8" featherweight, who trains out of American Top Team in Florida after coming up through Russia’s Nart Fight Club, fights with the patient, suffocating control that has kept his professional record spotless at 20-0.
Path to the UFC
Evloev turned professional in 2014 and rose through M-1 Global, one of Russia’s premier promotions, racking up wins on the regional and international circuit. He captured the M-1 Challenge bantamweight title in 2017 and defended it, building a perfect record that earned him a UFC contract. Two of his marquee M-1 performances came in 2018: a third-round rear-naked-choke submission of Sergey Morozov at M-1 Challenge 88, and a fifth-round knockout of Rafael Dias at M-1 Challenge 95, before he vacated his belt to sign with the UFC.
Establishing himself in the UFC
Evloev debuted in the UFC in 2019 and immediately looked at home. He decisioned Seung Woo Choi at UFC on ESPN+ 7 and out-grappled former Contender Series winner Enrique Barzola at UFC on ESPN+ 20. He kept the run going in 2020 with a unanimous decision over Mike Grundy, then opened 2021 with a split-decision win over savvy veteran Nik Lentz at UFC 257 and a clear decision over Hakeem Dawodu at UFC 263.
Climbing the contender ranks
As his competition stiffened, Evloev kept winning. He out-pointed Dan Ige in 2022 and handed dangerous striker Diego Lopes a unanimous-decision loss at UFC 288 in 2023. His breakthrough into the elite came at UFC 297 in January 2024, where he dominated top contender Arnold Allen over three rounds, and again at UFC 310 in December 2024, where he controlled former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling for a clear unanimous decision – arguably the best win of his career.
Title-eliminator form
Evloev pushed his unbeaten streak to 20 in March 2026 with a five-round majority-decision win over previously undefeated Lerone Murphy in a high-stakes featherweight headliner, the kind of marquee victory that cements a fighter as the division’s clear top contender. Across two decades’ worth of pro fights, no one has yet found a way to beat him.
Fighting style
Evloev is the prototypical positional dominator: a relentless wrestler who chains takedowns, controls top position, and grinds out rounds with smothering pressure. His finish rate sits at a modest 35% – 4 submissions and 3 knockouts among his 20 wins, with the majority going to decision – which underlines how he wins, by accumulating control time and damage rather than hunting the highlight. His defensive grappling and wrestling are world-class, and he has never been finished. The honest critique is that his decision-heavy style can lack the explosive finishing flair of some rivals, but his blemish-free record speaks to how difficult he is to solve.
Career highlights
- Perfect 20-0 record — one of the longest active undefeated streaks in the UFC, with no losses and no finishes against him across his entire professional career.
- Signature win over Aljamain Sterling — controlled the former UFC bantamweight champion for a clear decision at UFC 310, the standout result of his contender run.
- Former M-1 Challenge bantamweight champion — built a perfect record and a regional title in Russia before vacating the belt to join the UFC.
