Breaking into the UFC

Loosa kept winning on the regional scene – including an April 2022 unanimous-decision victory over veteran John Howard – and was signed as a short-notice replacement. He debuted in April 2022 and dropped a unanimous decision to Mounir Lazzez, but quickly turned things around. In August 2022 at UFC 278 he outpointed unbeaten prospect AJ Fletcher over three rounds, then followed with a September 2023 unanimous-decision win over Rhys McKee to establish himself on the roster.

Recent run

The momentum stalled in 2024. A March 2024 bout with Bryan Battle was ruled a no contest in the second round, and in July 2024 Loosa was outpointed over three rounds by surging grappler Gabriel Bonfim. He then suffered the first knockout loss of his UFC tenure in June 2025, stopped by punches in the third round by Phil Rowe, leaving him at 10-5 as he looks to reset.

Fighting style

Loosa is a long, athletic striker who pairs Hooft-system kickboxing with strong defensive wrestling – he has historically been very hard to take down and keep down. Five of his 10 wins have come by knockout and one by submission, a 60% finish rate, though several of his bigger UFC results have come on the scorecards where his length and output win rounds. His takedown defense and reach are genuine assets, but the recent losses point to a recurring theme: against the division's sharper finishers and grapplers, the offense can go quiet, and his late-fight durability was tested in the loss to Rowe.
