UFC run

Petrosyan opened his UFC tenure in February 2022 with a hard-fought split-decision win over the powerful Gregory Rodrigues, immediately showing he belonged. A unanimous-decision loss to rising contender Caio Borralho in July 2022 was a measuring-stick setback, but he answered on the UFC 280 card in October 2022 with a unanimous-decision win over AJ Dobson. He pushed his form further in June 2023, outpointing unbeaten prospect Christian Leroy Duncan over three rounds. The back half of his run, however, exposed his grappling vulnerabilities: he was submitted by Rodolfo Vieira via first-round arm-triangle in February 2024, knocked out by Shara Magomedov's spinning backfists at UFC 308 in October 2024, and submitted again by Brunno Ferreira at UFC 313 in March 2025.

Fighting style

Petrosyan is a striker through and through, and the numbers back it up: all six of his wins have come by knockout or TKO, giving him a 67 percent finish rate built almost entirely on his stand-up. His Muay Thai background shows in his kicking arsenal and willingness to attack the body, and at distance he is a genuine threat to end any fight with a single exchange. The flip side is well documented at the elite level — two of his three most recent losses came by submission, underlining a grappling and ground game that opponents have targeted. When Petrosyan can keep the fight standing and dictate range, he is among the more dangerous finishers in the middleweight picture; when he is dragged to the mat, he has struggled to escape.
