Early UFC surge

In his promotional debut in December 2018, Crute submitted the dangerous Paul Craig with a third-round kimura, announcing himself as a legitimate prospect. He followed that by blitzing veteran Sam Alvey with a first-round TKO in February 2019. A reality check arrived that September when Misha Cirkunov caught him in a first-round Peruvian necktie, but Crute regrouped emphatically, submitting Michał Oleksiejczuk via kimura and then starching Modestas Bukauskas with a first-round knockout in October 2020.

Adversity and resilience

The next stretch tested him. In April 2021, a doctor stoppage handed Anthony Smith a win when Crute suffered a leg issue, and that December Jamahal Hill dropped him with a first-round right hook. Injuries and inactivity followed, and his return produced a pair of frustrating results against Alonzo Menifield – a majority draw in February 2023 and a second-round guillotine loss in their July 2023 rematch. After another draw, this time with Rodolfo Bellato in February 2025, Crute finally rediscovered his finishing form. He submitted Marcin Prachnio with a first-round armbar at UFC 318 in July 2025, then choked out Ivan Erslan with a first-round rear-naked choke that September to build a fresh wave of momentum.
