Explosive UFC arrival

Walker announced himself emphatically. In November 2018 he flattened Khalil Rountree Jr. with a first-round elbow KO, then opened 2019 with a spinning-backfist-led first-round finish of Justin Ledet and a stunning flying-knee TKO of Misha Cirkunov in the first round at UFC 235. Three straight first-round wins made him one of the most talked-about prospects in the sport. The hype met reality later that year: Corey Anderson stopped him in the first round at UFC 244, and a 2020 decision loss to Nikita Krylov exposed the gaps in his consistency.

The contender years

Walker steadied himself with a first-round KO of Ryan Spann in 2020, but absorbed tough losses to Thiago Santos over five rounds and a fast first-round KO from Jamahal Hill in 2022. He answered with a resurgent run: a first-round submission of Ion Cutelaba, a first-round TKO of Paul Craig at UFC 283, and a decision win over veteran Anthony Smith in 2023. A 2023 bout with Magomed Ankalaev ended in a no-contest after an illegal knee; their rematch in 2024 went Ankalaev's way by second-round KO. After a first-round KO loss to Volkan Oezdemir, Walker bounced back with a second-round TKO of Mingyang Zhang in 2025 before dropping a split decision to Dominick Reyes at UFC 327 in 2026.

Fighting style

Walker is among the most aggressive finishers at 205 pounds: 17 of his 22 wins have come by knockout or TKO and another three by submission, giving him a 91% finish rate. His length, creativity and willingness to throw flying knees, spinning attacks and elbows make him dangerous from unconventional angles, and he is genuinely hard to prepare for. The flip side has been durability and consistency — six of his ten losses are by KO or TKO, and his high-risk style has occasionally left him exposed against pressure and power punchers.
