Climbing the regional ranks

Wick continued to build his reputation as a danger man on the mat. In September 2015 he caught the unbeaten Vince Morales with a second-round armbar at Front Street Fights 6, handing the future UFC bantamweight one of his earliest defeats. The level rose again in March 2016 when he met Dan Moret at RFA 36 and came up short on the scorecards, a decision loss that exposed the cardio and grappling-control questions that have followed him in his tougher fights.

Highlight finishes and the Contender Series

The most spectacular moment of Wick's career arrived in February 2017, when he stopped Thiago Alves with a flying knee and follow-up punches in the second round at Front Street Fights 11 – a highlight-reel finish that captured the explosive, high-risk style behind the "White Mamba" nickname. After a stretch on the regional circuit, he returned in January 2022 to grind out a first-round ground-and-pound stoppage of the experienced Cain Carrizosa at Fierce FC 18. That win earned him a coveted shot on Dana White's Contender Series in September 2022, but he ran into unbeaten prospect Nurullo Aliev, who took the fight to the canvas and finished him with first-round ground-and-pound.

Wick is a submission specialist first and foremost, with seven of his 12 wins coming by tap – armbars, chokes and a heel hook among them – against three knockouts and just two decisions, an 83% finish rate that underlines how rarely he leaves a fight in the judges' hands when things go his way. He chains his offense aggressively, hunting limbs and the neck from top position, and the Thiago Alves flying-knee finish shows he carries genuine pop on the feet as well.
