LFA breakout

Fernando announced himself in the Legacy Fighting Alliance in spectacular fashion. At LFA 111 in July 2021 he handed previously unbeaten prospect João Vitor Dantas the first loss of his career with a first-round flying knee and punches, one of the most memorable finishes of his run. He followed with a decision over Rodrigo Lima at LFA 126 and a first-round knockout of the experienced Fabio Aguiar (18-3 at the time) at LFA 143, establishing himself as one of the promotion's most dangerous middleweights.

Headliners and elite-level tests

That momentum earned Fernando a headlining slot at LFA 154 in March 2023, where he stopped Jansey Silva with a fourth-round punch to the body. The win set up a step onto Dana White's Contender Series in August 2023, but there he dropped a decision to unbeaten Brazilian César Almeida. He returned to the LFA cage that December for another headliner against the highly regarded Azamat Bekoev, dropping a second straight decision. Fernando steadied himself in May 2024 with a decision win over João Paulo Silva at LFA 183, lifting his professional record to 10-3.
