A finisher takes shape

By 2017 Lídio had found his rhythm, stacking up stoppages and retirements as he worked his way up the regional ladder. The signature run came in 2018, when he beat veteran Marcos Vinicius by first-round punches at Fight On: Solidário, a statement win over a far more experienced opponent that announced him as a genuine prospect. He kept the pressure on through 2019 and 2020 with a string of first-round knockouts and a memorable fifth-round flying-knee finish, the kind of highlight-reel violence that defines his reputation.

Testing the next level

The step up in competition arrived in 2022, when Lídio took a short-notice opportunity on Dana White's Contender Series against unbeaten Polish standout Mateusz Rębecki. Rębecki, riding a 15–1 record, submitted Lídio by rear-naked choke in the first round, a tough night against elite competition that underlined how thin the margins become at the top. Lídio responded the way he always has, returning to the regional circuit and reeling off finishes, including a second-round knockout of Hugo Vargas and a first-round guillotine at Fight On 8, to keep his name in the contender conversation.

Lídio is a pressure finisher in the purest sense: all 14 of his wins have come inside the distance, split between 11 knockouts and 3 submissions, for a 100% finish rate. He hunts the stoppage with heavy hands and aggressive forward movement, and he is comfortable closing the show on the feet or on the mat. The flip side is honest — his four defeats have all come by finish as well, including three submissions, and the losses to Bruno Oliveira and Mateusz Rębecki show that elite grapplers can capitalize when he is forced to defend off his back.
