Personal background
Dione Barbosa, nicknamed "The Witch," is a Brazilian flyweight competing in the UFC. Born on May 8, 1992, in Recife, Pernambuco, she grew up immersed in combat sports, beginning martial arts training at around age 7 and developing into one of Brazil's most decorated grappling talents. Barbosa is a black belt in both judo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, with a judo résumé that includes multiple Brazilian national titles and Pan-American honors before she ever turned to mixed martial arts. Standing 5'6" with a 66-inch reach, she relocated to the United States in 2021 to sharpen her game and now trains with Kings MMA, having also worked alongside Cris Cyborg.
Path to the UFC
Barbosa turned professional in 2018 and announced herself immediately, opening with two first-round submissions before scoring a notable 2019 unanimous-decision win over Karine Silva, a future UFC flyweight.
