Personal background
Karine Silva, nicknamed "Killer," is a Brazilian flyweight competing in the UFC with a professional record of 19–7. Born Karine Silva de Almeida on December 2, 1993, in Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, she came to combat sports in 2013 looking for a better life, starting in Chinese boxing (sanda) before joining a team that exposed her to luta livre, wrestling, Muay Thai and the full MMA toolbox. Her game grew into a grappling-heavy attack, and in July 2024 she completed the journey by earning her Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt under coach Gile Ribeiro. The 5'4" finisher, who fights out of Curitiba, Paraná, picked up the "Killer" nickname early in her career from a coach who pointed to her sheer aggressiveness – a label her record has more than justified.
Path to the UFC
Silva debuted as a professional in 2014 and learned her hardest lessons early, including a first-round armbar loss to future UFC fighter Maryna Moroz in just her third pro bout and a 2019 decision defeat to Dione Barbosa. She kept finishing opponents across the Brazilian circuit and earned her shot on Dana White's Contender Series in October 2021, submitting the highly experienced Qihui Yan with a second-round guillotine choke to claim a UFC contract.
UFC run
Silva arrived in the UFC and immediately put the division on notice with her finishing instincts. She debuted in June 2022 by submitting Poliana Botelho with a first-round D'Arce choke, then opened 2023 with a first-round kneebar of Ketlen Souza. In August 2023, at UFC 292, she avenged her old regional loss in emphatic fashion, submitting Maryna Moroz with a first-round guillotine choke to run her UFC start to a perfect 3–0, all by submission. The competition then stiffened: she ground out a unanimous decision over Ariane Lipski da Silva in April 2024 before dropping a unanimous decision to Viviane Araujo at UFC 309 in November 2024.
Recent fights
Silva rebounded in August 2025 by settling her rivalry with Dione Barbosa, taking a unanimous decision at UFC 319 to reverse their earlier result.
