Cage Warriors title run

Hardwick's defining night came in July 2022, when he met American challenger Kyle Driscoll in the main event of Cage Warriors 141. Hardwick broke Driscoll down over four rounds before sealing the win with a trademark body shot and follow-up ground-and-pound, capturing the Cage Warriors lightweight championship. He went on to defend the belt and stack up wins over established opposition, blasting out the veteran Chris Bungard with another body shot at Cage Warriors 147 and stopping Yann Liasse with first-round punches at Cage Warriors 152. Across this stretch, his ability to attack the body separated him from the division and made him one of the promotion's marquee names.

Contender Series

With the UFC the clear next step, Hardwick took his talents to Dana White's Contender Series in August 2023, facing the experienced Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady. It was a tough night: Al-Selwady controlled the action and took a unanimous decision, denying Hardwick the contract he had chased. It was only the second loss of his career, and like his first, it came on the scorecards rather than from any real damage – a testament to his durability even in defeat.
