The Ultimate Fighter and the call-up

Urbina became the third member of his family to appear on The Ultimate Fighter, competing as a middleweight on Season 29 under Team Brian Ortega. He won his elimination bout by first-round rear-naked choke over Micheal Gillmore, then fell in the tournament to Tresean Gore by second-round knockout in a house bout. The exposure still earned him a UFC contract, but his official Octagon debut in August 2021 was a rough one: Bryan Battle, his TUF castmate, submitted him by rear-naked choke in the second round.

UFC run: a signature win amid the grind

Urbina's breakthrough moment came in May 2023, when he stopped the previously hyped Orion Cosce with a front kick and knees for a second-round TKO, his first UFC victory and the kind of highlight finish that hints at his ceiling. The momentum proved hard to sustain. In February 2024, Charles Radtke knocked him out in the first round, and in August 2025 the heavy-handed Uros Medic did the same, leaving Urbina at 7-4 overall and in need of a turnaround. He is scheduled to return against Vlasto Čepo in August 2026.

Fighting style

Urbina is a length-based welterweight whose finishes are split evenly: two knockouts and two submissions among his seven wins, alongside three decisions, for a finish rate around 57 percent. His best tools are his reach and a credible grappling game, headlined by the rear-naked chokes that powered his regional rise, and the Cosce finish showed real creativity in the striking. The honest weakness is durability and consistency at the UFC level. Three of his four career losses have come by stoppage, two of them first-round knockouts, and he has struggled to string wins together against the division's harder hitters.
