Jaqueline Amorim bio
Personal background
Jaqueline Amorim is a Brazilian strawweight competing in the UFC with an 11–2 professional record built almost entirely on her elite grappling. Born June 24, 1995, in Manaus, in the Amazonas region of Brazil, Amorim started jiu-jitsu as a child and developed into a decorated competitor on the mats, earning her black belt in 2015 after training in Manaus under Faustino "Mestre Pina" Neto. A multiple-time IBJJF world-level medalist in both gi and no-gi, she carried that pedigree into mixed martial arts. The 5'3" strawweight now trains out of American Top Team in Florida, one of the sport's premier camps, where she has rounded out a game still anchored by her world-class submission grappling.
Path to the UFC
Amorim's record on Combat Edge opens with a 2019 grappling-match loss to Raquel Canuto before she shifted her focus to MMA, and from there she was nearly unstoppable. She reeled off a string of first-round finishes on the Brazilian and American regional scenes, submitting opponents by armbar, arm-triangle and rear-naked choke and even scoring a knockout, before becoming a fixture in the LFA. A run of LFA main events – including a kneebar finish of Loveth Young and an armbar of Ashley Nichols – established her as one of the most dangerous grappling prospects in the division and earned her a UFC contract.
UFC run
Amorim's Octagon debut came at UFC 287 in April 2023, where she dropped a unanimous decision to Sam Hughes – an early lesson that her path forward meant getting fights to the mat. She did exactly that. In August 2023 she stopped Montserrat Conejo Ruiz by third-round TKO, then ran off a series of trademark armbar finishes: a first-round submission of Cory McKenna in March 2024 and another armbar of Vanessa Demopoulos that September. She submitted veteran Polyana Viana by second-round rear-naked choke in April 2025, before running into a decision loss to Mizuki Inoue at UFC 321 in October 2025. She bounced back in May 2026 with a first-round armbar of Loma Lookboonmee, reaffirming her status as a submission threat near the top of the strawweight class.
Fighting style
Amorim is one of the purest grapplers in the division, and her record reflects it: of her 11 wins, nine came by submission and two by knockout, with not a single victory going to the scorecards – a 100 percent finish rate. Her jiu-jitsu is varied and opportunistic, with armbars, chokes, an arm-triangle and a kneebar all on her résumé, and her American Top Team striking has improved enough to punctuate fights, as her two TKO/KO wins show. The honest counterpoint is that both of her losses came by decision, against opponents who managed to keep the fight standing and away from her grappling. When she gets the action to the mat, however, she is among the most finish-hungry strawweights in the UFC.
Career highlights
- Perfect finish rate — all 11 of Amorim's wins came inside the distance, nine by submission, with no win ever reaching the judges' scorecards.
- Decorated jiu-jitsu black belt — a world-level IBJJF competitor in gi and no-gi before turning to MMA, she earned her black belt in 2015 in Manaus.
- Submission specialist at the UFC level — armbar finishes of Cory McKenna and Vanessa Demopoulos showcased a grappling game that translates against the world's best.
