Early Octagon years

His UFC debut in June 2016 ended in a third-round submission loss to Misha Cirkunov, but Cutelaba rebounded with a decision over Jonathan Wilson before dropping a decision to Jared Cannonier at The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale in a Fight of the Night. He showcased his finishing power with a first-round TKO of Gadzhimurad Antigulov in July 2018, then ran into a submission loss against veteran Glover Teixeira in 2019 before flattening Khalil Rountree Jr. with elbows inside a round.

The Ankalaev rivalry and middle stretch

Cutelaba twice met the surging Magomed Ankalaev across 2020, losing both by first-round stoppage in fights that underscored how his aggressive openings could leave him exposed. He then fought to a split draw with Dustin Jacoby in May 2021 and edged Devin Clark by decision later that year. A rough patch followed, with submission losses to Ryan Spann and Johnny Walker and a TKO defeat to Kennedy Nzechukwu across 2022.

Resurgence

Cutelaba steadied himself with a first-round TKO of Tanner Boser in 2023, and after a decision loss to Philipe Lins, he reeled off some of his best recent form. He outpointed Ivan Erslan by split decision in September 2024, then submitted the previously one-loss Ibo Aslan with a first-round arm-triangle choke in early 2025. After a split-decision loss to Modestas Bukauskas, he bounced back in March 2026 with a first-round guillotine-choke finish of the highly touted Oumar Sy, a marquee result that reaffirmed his standing as a dangerous out for anyone in the division.
