Kyle Reyes Record: 15-7-0

The American run and the move to ACA

Reyes made his stateside breakthrough in 2015, defeating undefeated prospect Kamuela Kirk by decision at WFF 19 before becoming a fixture on the Tachi Palace Fights circuit in California. He hit a competitive stretch there, dropping a decision to veteran Chris Culley in 2015, then reeling off a run of submission finishes before a 2016 stoppage loss to Cody Gibson at Tachi PF 29. Reyes then took his career international, signing with the Russian-based promotion ACB (later ACA). After a 2018 decision loss to Nohelin Hernandez, he authored one of his finest performances in April 2019, submitting the experienced Walel Watson with a first-round D'Arce choke at Final Fight Championship 35. He closed his career with an ACA knockout win before a 2020 stoppage loss to Bibert Tumenov.

Fighting style

Reyes was a grappling-first featherweight whose calling card was his elite submission game, an 80% finish rate built largely on the strength of 10 submission wins. He hunted chokes from every angle – guillotines, D'Arce chokes, rear-naked chokes and even a neck crank – and his scrambling and back-taking made him a nightmare on the mat. He could also bang, with a pair of knockouts on his record, but his bread and butter was forcing taps. His losses came almost exclusively against the toughest opposition, with five of his seven defeats going to decision, underlining how rarely he was finished and how often he made elite opponents earn it.
