Rocky UFC start

The jump to the UFC was unforgiving. Prachnio debuted in February 2018 and was knocked out in the first round by Sam Alvey, then suffered a brutal first-round head-kick TKO at the hands of rising star Magomed Ankalaev in September 2018. After a layoff, he returned in August 2020 only to be stopped again in the first round by Mike Rodriguez, leaving him 0-3 to start his UFC tenure and fighting to keep his roster spot.

The turnaround

Prachnio steadied himself in 2021 and rebuilt his career. He out-struck Khalil Rountree Jr. over three rounds for a unanimous decision at UFC 257, then unleashed his signature weapon in June 2021, folding Ike Villanueva with a second-round body kick. After a 2022 decision loss to Philipe Lins, he bounced back with a unanimous-decision win over William Knight in early 2023. His grappling deficiencies resurfaced when undefeated prospect Vitor Petrino submitted him by arm-triangle choke at UFC 290. Prachnio answered again, decisioning Devin Clark in February 2024, before back-to-back submission losses to Modestas Bukauskas at UFC 304 and Jimmy Crute by first-round armbar at UFC 318 in July 2025.

Fighting style

Prachnio is a karate-based striker first and foremost, and his finishing record reflects it: 11 of his 17 wins have come by knockout, many off kicks to the body and head that draw directly on his kyokushin pedigree. At range, with his length and his understanding of distance, he is one of the more aesthetically pure strikers in the light heavyweight division. The honest weakness is on the mat. While he carries a black belt in karate and a blue belt in jiu-jitsu, several of his losses have come by submission or ground-and-pound, including three of his most recent setbacks — a clear sign that opponents who can drag him into grappling exchanges have found the blueprint.
