Establishing himself in the UFC

Haqparast's UFC arc began with a learning experience: a unanimous-decision loss to grappling specialist Marcin Held in October 2017. He answered emphatically, stringing together decision wins over Marc Diakiese in 2018 and Thibault Gouti later that year, before announcing himself as a finisher at the top level with a second-round knockout of Joaquim Silva in August 2019, dropping him with a left overhand.
