Building toward the UFC

Before reaching the sport's biggest stage, García stacked statement wins on the Combate circuit. He edged Chase Gibson by majority decision in 2018, then ran off a series of finishes and decision wins that established him as a regional standout. He submitted Estevan Payan by first-round rear-naked choke in June 2019, outpointed Erick Gonzalez over five rounds that September, and capped the run with a five-round unanimous-decision win over Humberto Bandenay in early 2020 – championship-distance experience that prepared him for the UFC.

UFC run

After dropping decisions to Nasrat Haqparast and Chris Gruetzemacher in 2021, García steadied himself with a unanimous-decision win over the previously unbeaten Natan Levy and a second-round rear-naked-choke submission of veteran Jesse Ronson in 2022. After a decision loss to Drakkar Klose, he reeled off decision wins over Maheshate Hayisaer and durable veteran Clay Guida. A 2024 stoppage loss to Grant Dawson snapped his momentum, but García answered with a decision win over Vinc Pichel, a third-round TKO of Jared Gordon, and a unanimous-decision victory over Alexander Hernandez in 2026 to push his record to 19-4.

Fighting style

García is a grappling-first lightweight whose record reflects his ground pedigree: eight of his 19 wins have come by submission, with a finish rate above 50 percent. His best work happens in the clinch and on the mat, where his jiu-jitsu chains together control and rear-naked-choke threats, but he has steadily added pressure boxing and a heavier output, as the late TKO of Jared Gordon showed. His durability is a defining trait – he has only been finished once – though his losses have come against ranked, technical lightweights who out-pointed him over three rounds, the kind of fights he has increasingly learned to win.
